Have you any need for more people who will sell your products?
The answer should be a big YES!
More is better as long as you get the right people.
How do you know who’s the right one then?
Things that I look for in a CV or personal letter is:
Some kind of tell that they are active. For instance do they have a hobby or a sport or some interests that they are actively doing. Activity will usually show commitment and often also energy.
If I get someone who applies that are a pro athlete those are the best. They know how to put energy and focus into the their current “thing” to be a top achievers they also know how to set goals and get those very important top results. So for me it’s just about giving them the right tools for the job and point them in the right direction.
Other things I look for (during the interview) is insecurity and how well they cope with it.
This is exactly what the customers will be picking up on aswell. Meaning that someone who is good at controlling their insecurity in a new and unknown situation will be very good at dealing with it when they are trained. So hire they secure ones and don’t hire the ones who are shaking apart.
Are they good with on the fly thinking. Test them.
Give them 2 tasks (one at the time).
First one is: What would be the most common customer for our service/product? This tests if they have read up on you and your company and if they have imagined themselves in the position to sell your offerings.
Second one is: What would be the craziest outside the box customer for our product/service?
This shows if they can handle the pressure and survive and adapt. Also it gives you a great deal of new ideas where you can sell that you usually haven’t thought about yourselves.
All the usual stuff as firm hand shake and such are important things to but not crucial.
However eye movement to check if they make answer to your questions up or if they are truthful is very important for you if you think about hiring them!
Does past experience count?
If you have something that takes an experienced seller to sell then yes.
But I find that the less experience they have is the better as long as they have they go getter mentality. Because I can then train them to sell in my spirit and I don’t have to compete or change their already waste experience with selling.
Try to get people with an energy, motivation and ambition they will make you look good and you will make more money on them.
Over and out for today.
